PROJECTS & ACTIVITIES
PATRIOTISM

The chapter prepares gift bags of toiletries, clothing, books, gift cards, and other donated items for distribution to veterans at Christmas.

Chapter members gather quarterly to assemble pack for DOM-STAR (a 30-90 day rehabilitation program.

We send care packages to the USS New Mexico and the USS Santa Fe

Members volunteer time to veterans.

We participate in naturalization ceremonies.

Our chapter awards Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC) and Junior ROTC (JROTC) medals.

Co-host a community bell ringing event held at Expo NM on July 4th.

We lay wreaths at Santa Fe National Cemetery in December with Wreaths Across America.
HISTORICAL PRESERVATION

Members participate in online record transcription projects.

We preserve records, artifacts, and documents for the DAR Library.

Our chapter sponsors American History essay contests in local schools.

Our chapter worked with the Albuquerque Museum on an exhibit featuring Spain's involvement in the Revolutionary War.
EDUCATION

Members promote literacy through reading or tutoring children who need help with reading.

Members donate school supplies and seeds and make monetary donations as needed by the DAR Schools.

Members donate books to foster children.

Our chapter fulfilled eight school librarians' wish lists for books related to American history, totaling $5,000 in books.

Members scan receipts for Box Tops for Education and save pop tabs to support DAR schools.

Members benefit from programs presented on American history, conservation, and women's issues.
COMMUNITY

Donations of food and cards for Blue Star Mothers to include in packages for troops.

Our chapter sponsors a class at Estancia Valley Classical Academy.

We distribute 8,000 pocket Constitutions to all 8th-grade students in Albuquerque and Rio Rancho and to local Scout troops to promote Constitution Week in the community.

Purses filled with toiletries and small gifts were given to several local homes for battered women.

Sponsor an eagle at the Albuquerque zoo.
